- Many early childhood programs are reporting an increase in challenging preschool behaviors and are looking for lasting solutions that impact positive behavior change for young children.
- Preschool suspensions and expulsions are also happening at alarming rates and negatively impacting instructional time for children.
- Administrators want an opportunity to expand their early childhood knowledge and be better prepared to inform on policy, procedures, and codes of conduct where the teaching of every child is optimized for success in learning new skills and a positive educational trajectory is achieved
Any team from a district with an early childhood program is welcome to apply. Teams must include at least one Building Administrator who oversees discipline and one Behavior Specialist that focuses on early childhood to attend together. Team composition depends on the structure and needs of the district. Each district can register up to four participants on the application.
- A series of six virtual early childhood behavior sessions
- Gain preschool-focused skills and tools to increase confidence and competence in developing or refining preschool behavior support systems
- NAEYC publication Addressing Challenging Behavior in Young Children: The Leader’s Role by Barbara Kaiser and Judy Sklar Rasminsky
- Consultation and/or coaching opportunities with a Pyramid PIECES Behavior Coach and/or Technical Assistance Specialist with SC Partnerships for Inclusion to support action planning
