The Pyramid PIECES State Leadership Team (SLT) is an interagency group of state-level partners who collaborate to plan, implement, evaluate, and sustain a professional development system that supports high fidelity use of the Pyramid Model in our state. This team is passionate about the Pyramid Model and works to ensure structures and resources are available to programs so they are able to adopt the Pyramid Model with fidelity. This includes increasing support for funding, policy, evaluation, data-based decision making, training and coaching of educators, selection of implementation sites, and increasing public awareness.
Membership Criteria
The members of the Pyramid Model State Leadership Team (SLT) are a cross-sector group of individuals, representing private and public-sector organizations, who are focused on improving outcomes for young children in South Carolina through the implementation of the Pyramid Model. Though membership is voluntary, a signed membership agreement establishes shared community standards and expectations, providing for sustainability of the State Leadership Team.
The SLT will review current membership representation once per year to determine whether additional members are required to support the work of the SLT. SLT members may propose to add new team members or representatives of a new agency. Current members can make this request via the Pyramid Model Coordinator for consideration.
There is currently no established term limit for State Leadership Team members.
SLT Members are tasked with the following roles and responsibilities:
- Attend scheduled SLT meetings, as well as workgroup or subcommittee meetings.
- Read meeting minutes and review materials associated with prior or upcoming meetings, as necessary (including webinars and practice briefs).
- Advance and support SLT’s vision and mission.
- Participate in at least one SLT workgroup.
- Communicate frequently with the constituency you represent and bring any insights or concerns to the SLT for discussion.
- Speak for the constituency group you represent.
- Share information with your organization, recognizing the responsibility to communicate in a manner that does not create barriers to future collaboration.
- Share information with organization leaders to:
- Enhance the leader’s knowledge of the Pyramid Model (including importance and benefits), and
- Promote commitment to the member’s participation on the SLT
- Agree to properly represent SLT decisions and to help their organizations understand the different perspectives the SLT represents.
Core & Advisory Groups
In order to maintain sustainability, the SLT is comprised of two contributing groups –Core and Advisory, with varying responsibilities in each group. Each member is integral to the state-wide implementation plan, no matter their group membership.
